Imari porcelain refers to Japanese export ceramic ware produced in the Arita area and shipped from the port of Imari. Developed in the 17th century, it gained international recognition for its complex underglaze blue and overglaze enamel decoration.

Traditional Imari ware is crafted from kaolin-rich porcelain clay, fired at high temperatures, and decorated using cobalt blue underglaze combined with overglaze enamels in iron red, gold, and occasionally green or aubergine.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-painted decoration with subtle brushwork variations, dark cobalt blue underglaze, dense floral or faunal panels, and natural wear to the gilded accents along rims and finials.
