The Silver Cabinet has dated these Georgian Silver Salt Cellars to the Georgian era.
They are clearly hallmarked on the base for London 1738, with the maker's mark of Edward Wood.
Some of Edward Wood's salts at displayed at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. He died in 1752.
These cauldron-shaped salts have good gilding. They stand on 3 hoof feet - there is a small amount of damage to the base of one foot, which is shown in the photographs. This does not stop the salt standing squarely on the surface.
