Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Regency Gothic pedestal cupboards stands at 97 cm high, 51.5 cm wide, and 44 cm deep. Each piece exhibits a dark brown rosewood timber construction, complemented by a white Carrara marble top enclosed by a pierced brass gallery. The central doors showcase pleated green silk panels, framed by giltwood Gothic tracery, lancet arches, and gold-toned linear mouldings. Originally designed around 1820, these cabinets serve effectively as bedside tables or display stands for lamps and statues in a modern home. The rectilinear framework rests upon solid flat plinth bases, presenting an architectural silhouette suited for classical or period interior schemes.

FAQs

Regency Gothic furniture emerged in early nineteenth-century Britain, blending classical Regency proportions with decorative medieval elements such as pointed lancet arches, tracery, and pinnacle motifs.

Craftsmen typically utilised fine dark woods such as rosewood and mahogany, often accented with giltwood tracery, white marble tops, pierced brass galleries, and pleated silk fabric door panels.

Authentic Regency pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, genuine age-related oxidisation on metal fittings, hand-carved wood tracery, and natural surface wear consistent with two centuries of use.

These versatile pedestals work well positioned as bedside cabinets in a bedroom, framing a fireplace alcove in a drawing room, or providing accent storage in a hallway.

Clean wood surfaces with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax periodically, while marble tops should be wiped clean with a pH-neutral damp cloth to prevent etching.
