An elegant 30hr long case clock by John Tribe , of Petworth.

The brass dial with silvered chapter ring, having a single hand, the movement running on a rope.

The pine case, with a distinctive east of England simple pagoda top, and gilded capitols, blind fret, and fineals, having the original dark red painted finish, in excellent condition.

It is worth noting, that virtually all pine furniture made in the eighteenth century, was painted in dark colours, to allow for the effects of smoke from open fires and candles.
