An impressive gilt French mantel clock of 8 day duration, striking hourly and half hourly on a soft gong. We have not seen a clock quite like it before and it is a pleasure to look at. The case has been thoughtfully made with fine detail throughout. The Caryatids on each corner are all different and similar to the Acropolis, Greece. Even the rear of the clock is highly decorated enabling you to stand this clock in almost any position. The silvered dial showing Roman numerals polished and steel hands. Made in Paris around 1880-1890 numbered 992 / 2045.
