Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cream jugs produced during the Georgian era (17141830) evolved from plain baluster shapes to highly ornate vessels. Mid-to-late 18th-century examples often incorporate Rococo-inspired floral repousse or chased decoration, pedestal feet, scalloped rims, and double-scroll handles.

Georgian hollowware was crafted from sterling silver (92.5% silver content). Metalsmiths raised shapes by hand-hammering flat sheets of silver and applied decorative details using chasing, embossing, and punch-work techniques.

Authentic British sterling silver bears a standard set of hallmarks stamped by an assay office. A period piece typically features the lion passant (sterling silver mark), the leopards head (London assay office mark), a specific date letter, and the makers registered initials.

Silver hollowware can be displayed on a dark wood sideboard, marble tray, or inside a glazed cabinet to contrast polished metal against natural textures. Placing a small jug as a singular accent piece creates a focal point without cluttering modern surfaces.

Wash silver in warm water with mild dish soap and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Prevent heavy oxidisation by polishing periodically with a dedicated silver foam or cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips that strip decorative tarnish from low-relief details.
