This matched pair of early nineteenth-century Regency bedside cupboards consists of dark brown mahogany pieces with polished finishes. Each unit includes a gallery tray top, a single cupboard door, a deep lower drawer, and reeded legs finished with original brass castors and small round handles. One cupboard shows a faux drawer above the other opening drawer. The dimensions span a height of 79 cm to 80 cm, a width of 71 cm to 71.5 cm, and a depth of 53 cm to 55.5 cm. These functional cabinets fit well beside a bed or in a living space to hold lamps, books, and night-time essentials while adding period character to traditional interiors. The timber displays natural grain patterns and warm tones suited to classic rooms.

Originating in early nineteenth-century Britain, Regency bedside cupboards were functional bedroom pieces, often termed pot cupboards, designed with enclosed storage compartments and elevated gallery tops to hold washware and night-time essentials.

Cabinet makers during the Regency period predominantly utilised rich flame mahogany, satinwood, and rosewood, featuring hand-dovetailed drawer joinery, reeded turned legs, and cast brass castors or turned timber knobs.

Authentic Regency pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass castors, period-correct natural patination on mahogany surfaces, and signature architectural elements such as reeded column legs or gallery edges.

Flanking an upholstered bedstead with a pair of mahogany cupboards provides warm timber tones and symmetry, complemented by contemporary table lamps or understated ceramic accessories.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish along the wood grain twice yearly, ensuring the cabinets remain away from direct heat sources and intense sunlight.
