These French nineteenth century vases date from 1860 in the French Chateau style, made from porcelain with an enamel finish and gold leaf trim. Each piece comprises a bulbous, gourd-shaped body in a bright sky blue colour, accented by a flared rim, a patterned gilded collar, and a raised footring. Delicate botanical branch motifs with small pink flowers are hand painted across the body and neck, complemented by dark foliage details around the upper rim. Measuring 51 cm high, 27 cm wide, and 27 cm deep, they stand as substantial decorative vessels. Placed on a sideboard top, they suit both traditional and contemporary interiors to bring colour and classical French proportion to a room.

Paris porcelain, often referred to as Vieux Paris, denotes hard-paste ceramic wares produced by independent artisan workshops in and around Paris from the late eighteenth century through the nineteenth century.

These ceramic vessels were crafted using refined hard-paste porcelain clay, decorated with hand-applied enamel pigments, and finished with gilded accents burnished onto rims, collars, and pedestal bases.

Authentic items typically display detailed hand-painted botanical or figurative enamel scenes, vivid background glaze colours like turquoise or cobalt, and hand-gilded borders, often remaining un-marked by their individual workshop creators.

Positioning a symmetrical pair on a console table, sideboard top, or fireplace mantel creates a focal point of colour and historical craftsmanship that contrasts with modern neutral decor.

Dust gently using a soft dry microfibre cloth or soft bristle brush. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive scrubbing pads, or soaking in water, which can erode delicate hand-gilded borders and surface enamel over time.
