Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE GEORGIAN ERA:
Rough pontil scar beneath the base: finished by hand on an iron rod.
Fine scratches on the resting rim: honest wear from resting on hard surfaces.
Opaque white twist inside the stem: glassmaking method favoured from the 1750s.
Stepped helmet foot profile: distinctive mid-eighteenth-century shape.

This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

An opaque twist wine glass features an internal decorative spiral crafted from embedded white enamel strands within the stem, a technique developed and popularised in Britain during the mid-eighteenth century.

These pieces were hand-blown using lead crystal glass, which provided superior clarity and weight, paired with opaque white glass or enamel rods drawn and twisted during fabrication.

Authentic period stemware often demonstrates minor asymmetry, pontil marks on the base, age-related wear beneath the foot, and a distinct greyish cast characteristic of early lead glass formulations.

Antique stemware can be displayed inside glass-front cabinet cases, styled on open shelving, or arranged on sideboards to introduce historical interest and subtle glass craftsmanship to modern dining spaces.

Hand wash antique glass using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding dishwashers, extreme temperature changes, and harsh abrasive cloths to prevent thermal shock and surface scratching.
