A superb Anglo-Irish dram glass dating to c.1790-1800.
The glass holds 30ml, so a single straight measure glass.

It has a round funnel bowl, the upper half decorated with a band of half-printie cuts above a band of tiny diamonds and a lower prism-cut border. The lower half is richly ornamented with diamond swags surrounded by prism cutting, the intervening spaces further filled with diamonds. The shoulders and stem are flute cut, with the lower section additionally decorated with notch cutting on the flute edges. It stands on a conical foot with a polished pontil, the underside of the foot rim also embellished with a band of fine notch cuts.

The quality of the hand-cut workmanship is exceptional throughout. The sheer complexity and precision of the decoration suggest a piece of the highest calibre. It is the first example of its type that we have encountered and may well have been produced as a special commission.
