Exhibit Antiques has dated these Vintage Engraved Port Glasses to the Edwardian era.
Each glass has an elegant pan-top bowl, beautifully decorated with finely engraved fruiting vines, grape clusters, leaves and delicate scrolling tendrils around the rim. Below, a substantial band of deep scale and diamond cutting extends around the midsection, creating a striking contrast between the delicate engraving and the brilliant cut decoration.

The bowls are supported by short baluster stems above conical feet with polished pontils.
Holding approximately 100ml each, these are particularly attractive glasses, combining traditional English glass-cutting and engraving techniques with the quality and elegance associated with John Walsh Walsh.

Historical Context
John Walsh Walsh was an established Birmingham glass manufacturer, founded in 1850 and particularly renowned for the quality of its cut and engraved crystal glass.
During the early 20th century, the company produced an extensive range of fine table glass, including wine glasses, port glasses, champagne glasses, tumblers and decanters, often decorated with elaborate fruiting vine designs.

The combination of deeply cut geometric patterns beneath delicately engraved grape clusters, vine leaves and scrolling tendrils became a recognisable feature of the company's decorative tableware.
Examples of this style were produced in different sizes and forms, predominantly in clear crystal, although coloured variations are also known.
