This Victorian double-ended scent bottle dates from 1877 and originates from London. The hexagonal body is formed from faceted Bristol green glass in an emerald hue, paired with silver-gilt mounts. The ends feature engraved hinged and screw-top caps decorated with chased floral motifs and a central vacant cartouche. Additional details include faceted glass edges, stamped hallmarks, and contrasting gold-tone metalwork against deep green glass. Measuring 13 cm high by 3 cm wide and 3 cm deep, the piece scales compactly for display. Today, collectors and interior stylists place small vanity items like this scent bottle on a bedroom bedside table, dressing table tray or bathroom shelf to hold perfume. The double-ended design provides a functional vessel for fragrance display while offering a decorative antique accent on surfaces in period or transitional home interiors.

A double-ended scent bottle is a 19th-century vanity item designed with two distinct glass compartments, traditionally featuring a screw-top cap for liquid perfume on one side and a hinged cap for smelling salts or a vinaigrette on the other.

These objects were commonly crafted from faceted or moulded coloured glass, such as Bristol green or ruby glass, paired with sterling silver, silver-gilt, or gold caps decorated with hand-chasing or engraving.

Authentic pieces usually bear full British hallmarks stamped on the metal mounts, indicating the makers mark, assay office, silver purity, and date letter, alongside precise hand-cut glass facets.

These delicate glass objects are frequently styled atop a decorative tray on a bedroom dressing table, displayed on a bathroom counter, or arranged within a glass-fronted cabinet alongside other period collectables.

Clean the glass gently using a dry microfibre cloth, taking care not to submerge the metal mounts in water or clean them with abrasive polishing compounds that could strip the gilded finish.
