This Edwardian sectional bookcase by Lebus, dating to circa 1900, is constructed from oak in a dark warm brown tone and finished with brass keyhole escutcheons. The modular storage system consists of three stacked tiers featuring up-and-over glazed doors with lift-up mechanisms, an arched pediment top, and a lower base drawer fitted with two turned wooden knobs. Dentil moulding runs just beneath the curved crest, and small turned wooden buttons sit on the front frame of each glass section. Measuring 140 cm high, 88 cm wide, and 36 cm deep, this tall cabinet functions as an upright storage unit for a home study, living room, or hallway to organise volumes and display collectibles while occupying a modest footprint on the floor.

A sectional bookcase, also known as a barrister bookcase, consists of stackable individual shelf units designed with glazed doors that lift and slide back into the frame, allowing customizable modular assembly and ease of transport.

These bookcases were primarily manufactured using solid hardwoods such as oak or mahogany, fitted with glass panels, metal door guide mechanisms, and brass keyhole escutcheons or handles.

Authentic Lebus pieces frequently bear stamped manufacturer marks or metal plates inside the sections, along with characteristic door mechanisms and specific moulding profiles along the pediment and base.

A sectional bookcase works well as a tall focal storage piece in a study, hallway, or living space, displaying books, ceramics, or collected objects within its enclosed glazed compartments.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply bees wax polish periodically to preserve the finish, ensuring glass surfaces are cleaned with a non-abrasive glass cleaner applied to a microfibre cloth.
