Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

A George III secretaire bookcase is an English case piece from the late eighteenth to early nineteenth century, combining a upper glazed display bookcase with a lower chest of drawers that houses a pull-out or drop-down writing desk.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid and veneered mahogany, featuring oak or pine drawer linings, mouth-blown glass panes, and cast brass swan-neck or bail handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-dovetailed drawer joints, hand-sawn secondary timber on rear panels, original astragal glass glazing bars, and period-appropriate wear on the writing surface and drawer runners.

Place the unit against a neutral backdrop in a living room, study, or hallway, using the glazed upper section to display modern ceramics or books alongside traditional decorative objects.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight, clean glass panes with a dry microfibre cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax paste annually along the wood grain.
