CKB Ltd Emporium & Collectables has dated these Chinese Blue White Vases to the 1870s.

The group comprises two tall sleeve / beaker-form vases, each approximately 15.5cm high, together with a smaller baluster-form vase approximately 13.5cm high.

The second sleeve vase is more densely decorated with an interesting figural court scene, surrounded by scrolling floral and foliate ornament. The central panel depicts figures beneath an architectural canopy, giving the piece particularly strong visual interest.

The smaller baluster-form vase is painted with large stylised flowers, leafy stems and scrolling foliage beneath a patterned shoulder border.
Each base bears an underglaze-blue four-character mark reading:

康熙年製
Kāngxī nián zhì
“Made during the Kangxi reign.”
The Kangxi Emperor reigned from 1662–1722. However, Kangxi reign marks were frequently reproduced on later Qing ceramics in homage to the highly regarded blue-and-white porcelain of the period. These pieces are therefore conservatively catalogued as 19th-century Qing porcelain bearing apocryphal Kangxi marks, rather than as Kangxi-period originals. Christie’s records numerous comparable 19th-century blue-and-white vessels carrying four-character Kangxi marks.

Origin: China
Period: Qing dynasty
Date: 19th century, probably circa 1850–1900
Material: Porcelain
Decoration: Underglaze cobalt blue
Marks: 康熙年製 — apocryphal four-character Kangxi reign marks
Sleeve vases: Approx. 15.5cm high each

Baluster vase: Approx. 13.5cm high
Condition: All three pieces have notable condition issues and are priced accordingly. Both sleeve vases have rim chips/losses, clearly visible in the photographs, together with associated surface wear and firing imperfections. The baluster vase has previously been broken and reglued, with visible repair lines and associated damage. Further minor staining, scratches and age-related marks are present throughout. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.

Despite the condition, this remains an attractive and useful study group of genuine 19th-century Qing blue-and-white porcelain, displaying different decorative styles while sharing traditional Kangxi-revival marks.
