  • MotifsSeal top finial, Four tines, Hallmarked stem

A seal top fork is a style of flatware featuring a handle terminated with a finial reminiscent of a personal wax seal stamp, originating in early modern European silver design and reinterpreted in later periods.

Antique silver flatware is typically crafted from sterling silver, an alloy containing 92.5 percent pure silver combined with copper for structural durability.

Authentic Victorian silver pieces feature official assay office hallmarks, a makers mark, a duty mark, and a date letter stamped along the stem or reverse side.

Antique silver forks can be mixed with contemporary plain tableware to create a layered, eclectic table arrangement for formal or casual dining.

Sterling silver should be washed by hand in warm soapy water, dried immediately with a soft cloth, and periodically polished with a silver cream to prevent oxidisation.
