Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian display cabinet dates from 1880 and takes the form of a mahogany glazed upper section resting on a serpentine support table with square tapering reeded legs. The dark brown timber surfaces show a polished finish combined with hand-painted floral decoration, cherubs playing musical instruments, and a swan-neck pediment above twin glass doors enclosing two adjustable display shelves. The design incorporates serpentine sides and fine mouldings framing the upper doors. Practical proportions measure 174 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 45 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this cabinet provides refined storage and display space for prized ornaments, glassware, or small collections. It suits placement in a living room, dining room, or hallway where upright antique furniture adds character and function to interior spaces.

FAQs

Sheraton Revival display cabinets from the late Victorian period incorporate 18th-century design elements, including delicate proportions, tapered legs, pediment tops, and elaborate painted or inlaid decorations depicting floral sprigs, ribbons, and classical motifs.

These pieces typically feature solid or veneered mahogany frames, mouth-blown glass panels, wood-backed interiors, and hand-applied oil paint or lacquer for decorative detailing.

Authentic painted decoration exhibits age-appropriate wear, subtle crazing under magnification, hand-brushed execution rather than stencilling, and harmonious integration with the timbers original finish.

Positioning a tall glazed cabinet against a neutral or dark backdrop allows the timber and artwork to stand out, while filling the shelves with monochromatic ceramics or glassware creates a balanced, contemporary look.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoid silicone-based sprays, clean the glass with a mild alcohol solution applied directly to the cloth rather than the wood, and keep the piece away from direct heat sources.
