Product Description:
Smith’s Mechanism & Anglo-Swiss Heritage
During this period, Smiths exported English mechanisms to the British colonies. Local craftsmen cased them there, and the Anglo-Swiss Clock Company then usually sold them on. Anglo-Swiss was a prominent clockmaker, retailer and jeweller in Calcutta, colonial India, during the early 20th century. Founded in 1909, the company produced a large number of reliable, good quality timepieces, supplying both the domestic market and the British Empire. Its head office and factory were at Quartier de l'Industrie, Solothurn, Switzerland.

Dimensions:
External Diameter: 15"
Painted Dial Diameter: 12"
Depth: 5¾"
The case and tin dial show nominal old use marks, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). At some point in the past, the painted tin dial was replaced. The brass-hinged bezel is in good working order, although there is some movement in the hinge. The bezel-locking latch, however, is present and working. It prevents the bezel from opening. We have cleaned and hand French-polished the mahogany case, so it is now in very good condition. Similarly, we have cleaned and serviced the mechanism, so it is in good working order and keeps good time.

We are confident you will have no problems with the mechanism, so we offer a 2-year UK warranty. If a mechanical problem arises, we will collect the clock from you free of charge. We will then have it repaired and returned to you, also free of charge. We also offer a 14-day UK returns policy, should you be unhappy with the clock. You may return it for any reason within that period. Please note, too, that this clock retains its original mechanism. We have not replaced it with the cheaper, devaluing battery-operated quartz kit fitted to some clocks.
