An unusual Cassone on the original stand, in cedar wood that has acquired a sumptuous, deep patina. The front is carved with arches and flowers, the central carving bears a date of 1644 and the initials EH. The original pin hinges and lock plate survive. A wonderfully proportioned piece and rare on a stand.
