Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique revolving bookcase is a compact, free-standing storage unit mounted on a central rotating mechanism, allowing access to books on all four sides. Popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these pieces were designed for private libraries, offices, and studies.

Edwardian revolving bookcases were typically crafted from hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut. They feature a central wooden column supported by a heavy cast iron or wooden revolving spindle, surrounded by open tiers with vertical slatted slats to secure books.

Authentic period examples exhibit solid wood construction, traditional joinery such as dovetail or mortise and tenon joints, natural wear to the base mechanism, and original castors. Look for cast-iron rotating hardware beneath the base and genuine patination on the timber.

Place the bookcase alongside a armchair or desk to function as both functional book storage and an end table. Complement the warm timber tones with brass reading lamps, ceramics, and layered textiles in a study, living room, or hallway.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to nourish the oak and protect the finish. Ensure the revolving mechanism is kept clean and lightly lubricated if needed, keeping the unit away from direct heat sources.
