Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the 17th and 18th centuries, a linen press was traditionally designed to store household sheets, tablecloths, and clothing. The upper section usually housed sliding trays or shelves behind double doors, while the lower section contained drawers for extra storage space.

Regency linen presses were typically constructed from solid timbers such as mahogany, pine, or oak. Key features include fine hand-cut dovetail joints, moulded cornices, panelled cupboard doors, and turned or bracket feet, often paired with cast brass handles.

Authentic pieces display hand-planed drawer bottoms, irregular saw marks on rear timber boards, and genuine age-related wear around handles and keyholes. Multiple historic layers of paint or natural craquelure to the surface finish also help verify age.

A painted linen press functions as a striking focal point in a bedroom, dining area, or large hallway. It provides substantial concealed storage for clothing, tableware, or media equipment while introducing rich texture and historic character.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid using harsh chemical sprays or abrasive polish, and keep the piece away from direct heat sources and high humidity to preserve the painted finish.
