Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this French Glass Pedestal Bowl to the 1860s.
The pedestal is formed from a substantial block of finely cut and polished clear glass, mounted with intricate cast bronze floral swags of exceptional quality.

Above, a matching flared bronze mount supports the circular stepped stem, which rises to a large oval clear glass bowl. The bowl is adorned with substantial applied bronze mounts, each decorated with matching floral swags, while the rim is finished with a finely cast reeded and ribboned bronze boarder, echoing the decoration of the base.

The bronze retains an attractive two tone patination, with contrasting light and dark finishes that beautifully enhance the quality of the casting and decorative detail.
The glass bowl is in very good antique condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There are some signs of verdigris visible through the underside of the glass beneath the bronze mounts, consistent with age and the natural oxidation of the bronze.
