This large Regency period bookcase dates from around 1820. Constructed from dark brown rosewood, the low cabinet incorporates a light marble top, twin glazed doors framed in brass trim, and gilt-bronze ormolu corner accents. Additional details include decorative ormolu beading around the glass doors, carved leaf motifs at the upper corners, small brass handle knobs, and two adjustable shelves visible through the transparent glass. The timber displays a rich dark brown grain with polished surfaces. Standing at 94 cm high, 142 cm long, and 33 cm deep, the piece offers a practical low profile for residential spaces. In a contemporary home, this traditional bookcase suits placement in a living room, study, or hallway for displaying books and decorative objects behind glass protection. The restrained Regency lines and marble surface combine utility with classical decorative elements suitable for formal or traditional interiors.

A low rosewood cabinet serves as a substantial anchor piece in contemporary living spaces or hallways, functioning as a media console or a low display surface beneath modern art prints.

Clean marble surfaces with a pH-neutral cleaner avoiding acidic formulas, and preserve rosewood by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying high-grade beeswax sparingly twice per year.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery, original hand-blown glazed door panes with minor imperfections, hand-chased brass mounts, and natural age-related oxidisation on interior timber surfaces.

Crafted during the Regency period, these pieces typically feature solid oak or pine frameworks veneered in dark Brazilian rosewood, fitted with natural marble slabs, glass door panels, and gilt-bronze ormolu mounts.

Originating from the early 19th century, Regency low rosewood bookcases are characterised by dark, richly figured exotic timber, low proportions suitable for display beneath artwork, and classical embellishments influenced by Greco-Roman motifs.
