Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Staffordshire potteries in England produced decorative ceramic clock cases throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These pieces typically combined earthenware casings featuring architectural or figurative designs with imported mechanical clock movements.

The casings were molded from earthenware pottery, decorated with hand-painted overglaze or transfer prints, and finished with clear or coloured glazes. The clock inserts generally featured brass bezels with enamel or printed paper dials.

Authentic pieces display characteristic signs of age, such as fine glaze crazing, slight irregularities in hand-applied paintwork, and mold marks along seam lines. Look for impressed maker stamps or registration numbers on the underside of the base.

Position the piece centrally on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard, or bookshelf to act as a focal accent. Pair it alongside brass candlesticks, framed botanical prints, or greenery to complement the warm colour tones.

Dust the exterior gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or soft-bristled brush. Avoid immersing the item in water or using harsh chemical solvents, which can penetrate glaze crazing and damage internal mechanical components.
