An eighteenth-century English Georgian brass candlestick stands as a practical and decorative antique shaped by traditional metalwork methods. The piece displays a polished gold-coloured finish across its metal surfaces. Formed in the Georgian style, the design incorporates a knopped baluster column rising from a square base with decorative scalloped shell corners, echoing contemporary silver prototypes. Multiple turned mouldings encircle the vertical shaft, while an internal push-ejector mechanism provides a functional component for removing spent candle stubs. The object measures 24 cm high, 10.5 cm wide, and 10.5 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this traditional holder suits placement on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or occasional table to provide ambient lighting or serve as a period display piece. The metallic surface catches ambient light, highlighting the turned profiles and structural nodes along the vertical stem. This example brings eighteenth-century domestic design into modern interior settings without requiring permanent installation, serving as both a functional lighting accessory and a collectible antique metalwork object.

Georgian brass candlesticks were produced in Britain during the 18th and early 19th centuries, characterised by cast metal construction, baluster or knopped stems, and turned bases with square, octagonal, or scalloped outlines.

Candlesticks from this period were typically cast in vertical halves using sand moulds, joined together with brazing solder, and finished by hand turning on a lathe.

Authentic pieces frequently show visible seam lines down the stem from two-part casting, hand-turning tool marks inside the hollow base, and a dense weight resulting from high-copper brass alloys.

Display single sticks or matching pairs on a dining table, fireplace mantelpiece, or console table alongside contemporary ceramics and books to introduce metallic warm tones.

Dust regularly using a dry soft cloth and apply specialised metal polish sparingly when necessary, avoiding harsh abrasive pads that scratch the metal surface or erode historical patina.
