Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A fusee bracket clock is a spring-driven table clock that uses a cone-shaped pulley system, known as a fusee, to equalise the torque produced by the mainspring as it unwinds. Originating in the 17th century, these clocks were traditionally set upon a matching wall bracket or placed prominently on a mantelpiece.

These clocks are generally constructed with fine cabinet timbers, predominantly flame mahogany or walnut, surrounding a brass movement mechanism. Dials are usually painted iron, silvered brass, or enamelled, while decorative details frequently feature cast brass finials, feet, and bezels.

Authentic pieces feature heavy cast brass plates inside the movement, gut or chain fusee drives, and authentic maker inscriptions painted or engraved on the dial or backplate. Hand-carved timber detailing and original winding key squares with natural wear consistent with age further confirm authenticity.

A bracket clock serves as a focal point on a marble fireplace mantel, a library bookcase, or a mahogany sideboard. Its rich wood tones and classic proportions provide visual weight in both traditional and transitional interior schemes.

Keep the timber casing away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or drying of the wood. Mechanical movements should be wound steadily with the correct size key and professionally serviced by a horologist every five to seven years.
