Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian clothes press, often referred to as a linen press, is a traditional two-part storage cabinet introduced in the 18th century. The upper section typically features double doors enclosing slides or shelves for folded garments, while the lower section consists of a chest of drawers.

Georgian clothes presses were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or oak, often featuring figured flame mahogany veneers on door panels. Drawer fronts usually display hand-cut dovetail joinery, solid timber linings, and original brass oval or swan-neck drop handles.

Authentic George III pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary woods, original brass lock plates, and natural timber shrinkage marks in the panels. The presence of slide runners inside the upper cabinet and period-correct mouldings along the cornice also signal period authenticity.

An antique mahogany press functions effectively in a master bedroom, guest room, or wide hallway as functional storage. Its rich timber tones provide visual contrast when paired with modern neutral wall colours and contemporary minimalist decor.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and applying a beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the wood grain. Avoid placement near direct heat sources or in direct sunlight to prevent timber warping and finish fading.
