Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French flame mahogany armoire is a freestanding double-door wardrobe crafted during the 19th century, featuring book-matched mahogany veneers that display a characteristic flame-like grain figure.

These pieces are constructed using solid hardwood framing covered with cut mahogany veneers. Traditional cabinetmaking features hand-cut dovetail joints on base drawers and mortise-and-tenon joinery throughout the frame.

Authentic examples feature hand-cut joinery, original iron or brass lock mechanisms, hand-planed timber backboards, and natural variations in the veneer. Book-matched symmetry in the flame pattern is also indicative of quality craftsmanship.

A flame mahogany armoire functions as a focal point in modern bedrooms, dressing rooms, or hallways. Positioning it against neutral walls with linen soft furnishings balances the heavy timber density and classical lines.

Maintain the surface by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and keeping the cabinet away from direct heat sources. Applying a beeswax polish annually helps nourish the timber veneer and protects the original patinated surface.
