Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A William III silver trefid spoon is a style of flatware produced in England during the late 17th century, named after the three-lobed notched pattern at the top of the handle terminal.

These spoons were hand-hammered from sterling or Britannia standard silver and featured cast or struck bowls joined with a supportive raised ridge, known as a rat-tail, along the reverse.

Authentic pieces feature period London or provincial hallmarks stamped along the stem, a notched three-pointed handle, period prick-dot or block initials, and a distinct rat-tail heel on the back of the oval bowl.

Silver spoons from this period are traditionally displayed within glass tabletop vitrines, lined cutlery drawers, or mounted inside glazed shadow frames to highlight their detailed marks and forms.

Clean silver gently using a soft, non-abrasive cloth and specialist silver foam, avoiding harsh dipping solutions that strip natural age patina from stamped hallmarks and hand-engraved detailing.
