Exquisite French Art Deco (ca 1932) Etling ‘nue Au Bras Tendu’ Opalescent Glass Figurine, Lucille Sevin
£395 $529 €463
Rare French Art Deco (ca 1932) Etling ‘Nue Au Bras Tendu’ (nude with outstretched arm) opalescent glass figurine. The beautiful glass figure of a naked lady holding an animated pose as her (transparent) shawl drapes across her shoulders, exhibits excellent colour and fine detail. Produced by the Etling glassworks and designed by in-house artist Lucille Sevin. Signed ‘Etling France’ on the base. 22cm high x 11.5cm wide, weight 800g.
Good condition overall but has a repair on the outstretched hand (see photo). Despite this it remains a striking sculpture.
Etling opalescent glass statues are highly sought-after French Art Deco pieces, produced in the 1920s-1930s. Known for their ethereal, milky-blue glow, these moulded glass figures often feature female nudes, dancers or religious icons.
Edmond Laurent Etling founded La Societe Anonyme Edmond Etling in 1906 in Paris. The works which he commissioned (not only glass, but ceramics, ivory and bronze) were sold from his shop in Paris.... Glassware was made at the Etling Choisy-le-Roi glassworks. Apart from clear grey and frosted glass, much of Etling''s glassware was made of opalescent glass.
