An opaque twist wine glass is a type of 18th-century drinking vessel featuring a stem decorated with thin opaque white or coloured enamel glass twists enclosed within a clear glass outer layer.

These glasses were typically hand-blown using lead glass, which provided a heavy weight and high refractive index. The stems were formed using various twist techniques, including air twists, opaque twists, and multi-series twists.

Authentic pieces often display pontil marks on the underside of the foot, wear consistent with age, minor bubbles or striations within the metal from the hand-blowing process, and specific stylistic motifs associated with the Georgian period.

Antique glassware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, styled on open shelving with appropriate lighting, or used selectively as focal points on sideboards to add historical texture to a room.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Avoid sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock, and never place antique glass in a dishwasher.
