Enamel and glass trinket boxes gained popularity during the 19th century in France and England, often utilised on dressing tables to store small personal items, pins, and stamps.

These pieces typically combine moulded or blown glass with hand-applied enamel decoration, often featuring metallic gilt or silver-plated mounts and hinges.

Authenticity is determined by examining the wear on the base, the composition of the metal mounts, hand-painted details with slight irregularities, and period-appropriate hardware construction.

Placing a small decorative box on a bedside table, dressing table, or bookshelf adds a touch of historical texture and practical storage for small keepsakes.

Clean gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, abrasives, and excessive moisture to protect the delicate enamel work and metal mounts.
