A decorative pair of English patent ironstone posy vases from the Edwardian period, richly enamelled in Mason’s Oriental palette with exotic bird and floral ornament on a vivid yellow ground. The layered enamels and extensive gilding reflect the higher-grade decorative production of the factory in the early twentieth century.
 
The pattern corresponds to the registered design Mason’s Oriental palette / exotic bird design on yellow ground, Registered Design No. 652974, applied across multiple forms including large vases, chargers and smaller interior wares. The present examples represent the compact globular posy-vase format, produced in more limited numbers.
