A very fine George III, Sheraton period, secretaire bookcase made circa 1795, flame figured mahogany veneers with cross banding and ebony stringing. The bookcase with a shaped flowing pediment topped by urn finials, astragal glazed doors, is of classic Sheraton form. Three removable/adjustable shelves.
The chest section with a pull out secretaire compartment, five internal drawers and a blue leather writing panel, above three long cockbeaded drawers, standing on swept bracket feet with a shaped apron.
The key to the secretaire section works the locks on the three drawers below which is unusual.
It is in exceptional original condition.
