Exquisite 19th-Century Sèvres Porcelain Vase with Gilt Bronze Mounts
A charming and finely executed French 19th-century Louis XVI–style Sèvres porcelain vase or centrepiece, richly mounted in gilt bronze (ormolu). The piece is raised on an elegant circular footed base with ribbon decoration and a finely chased wrap-around tied band.
The porcelain body is beautifully hand-painted with a detailed pastoral scene depicting a seated woman reading a love letter in a wooded setting, framed by a richly gilded scrolling cartouche. A pierced ormolu gallery encircles the rim, adding refinement and balance to the design.
The vase is surmounted by its original domed lid, finished in matching blue with a gilt bronze finial. Retaining its original gilding throughout, this piece is offered in very good condition.
A decorative and highly collectable example of 19th-century French craftsmanship.
