Antique Glass - Rummer Sunderland Bridge English C1830

Description

Sunderland Bridge rummer. The bucket bowl depicting a view of the bridge with a ship sailing beneath inscribed Sunderland Bridge also inscribed in diamond point the bridges measurements - Cast Iron 214 tons, Wrought Do 46 Do, Height 100 Ft and Span 156 Do. The reverse with a band of oak leaves English c1830.

Ex. Dr Donald Butress Collection.

Ht. 13.3 cm.

Rim dia: 9 cm.

Foot dia: 7.5 cm.

Weight: 309 grams.

Condition: Very good.

Note: The Sunderland Bridge (actually the Wearmouth Bridge) is a famous iron bridge over the river Wear opened in 1796.
