Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This small 19th-century oak cupboard in the Jacobean Revival style stands in a dark brown finish with distinct grain patterns visible across its timber surfaces. The upper section contains two single drawers fitted with iron drop pulls, positioned above a double cupboard featuring geometric moulded doors, turned pilasters, and working locks with a key. Below the main cabinet, an open stand rests on fluted legs connected by a lower shelf, complete with carved brackets beneath the frieze. Measuring 118 cm high, 83 cm wide, and 39 cm deep, this narrow piece suits placement in a living room, hallway, or dining area as a functional storage unit or a drinks cupboard.

FAQs

Jacobean Revival furniture emerged during the 19th century, drawing inspiration from 17th-century English woodwork characterized by heavy oak construction, geometric panel mouldings, and turned pilasters.

Authentic pieces are crafted from solid European or English oak, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, hand-carved detailing, and dark patinated iron metalwork.

Look for hand-cut dovetails on the drawers, signs of age-related shrinkage in wider panels, historical wear around keyholes, and deep patination consistent with natural aging.

Position the piece in an entryway or dining room, balancing its dark wood tones against neutral linen wall coverings, contemporary artwork, or brushed brass accents.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish twice a year, keeping the cabinet away from direct heat sources and moisture.
