An elegant Pierrefonds Art Pottery Vase c1920s, with attractive chrystalline glaze, one from a group recently acquired, the others will be listed shortly. Pierrefonds pottery was a highly collectible French ceramic producer, produced by the Société Faïencerie Héraldique de Pierrefonds in Pierrefonds, France, from around 1903 until 1966. Renowned for its distinctive crystalline and flambé glazes in rich blues, greens, and ochre tones, each piece displays unique, iridescent surface patterns.
Influenced by both Art Nouveau and later Art Deco styles, Pierrefonds ceramics gained international recognition, including awards at the 1925 Paris Exposition. Typical forms include vases, pitchers, and bowls in stoneware and earthenware, usually marked with “PIERREFONDS,” a heraldic helmet, and related initials. Founded by Count Hallez d’Arros, the factory became known for high-quality, technically innovative, luxury ceramics.
