Art Nouveau Amethyst and Clear Peacock Trail Vase

19th century
Description

An Art Nouveau Amethyst and clear peacock trail vase . Stunning Amethyst and clear peacock 'eyes' and with beautiful sinuous curves to the glass. Made in Stourbridge, England, probably by Stuart and Sons and retailed through Liberty in London. The colours would be hot applied and trailed along the vase. Beautiful and elegant and in excellent original condition. This piece is quite large being 27cm at its widest and 13cm at its tallest. A very striking and beautiful addition to any home

History

Art Nouveau was an international art and architecture style that flourished from the 1880s to World War I, aiming to unify the fine and applied arts into a "total work of art". Inspired by the natural world, it is defined by organic forms, flowing lines, and decorative elements, and it emerged as a response to industrialization. It was known by different names across Europe, such as Jugendstil in Germany and Modernismo in Spain.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
