Regency glassware, dating from the early 19th century, is characterised by classical proportions, often featuring heavy lead crystal, plain or thinly ribbed bowls, and distinct knop stems inspired by neoclassical design.

Georgian red glassware was typically produced using lead glass or flint glass, coloured using gold chloride or copper oxide to achieve rich cranberry, ruby, or amethyst hues.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the base, minor surface abrasions consistent with age, slight irregularities in thickness due to hand-blowing, and the characteristic heavy weight of lead glass.

These pieces can be displayed on an open sideboard or within a glass-fronted cabinet to catch the light, or utilized to bring historical depth and rich colour contrast to a contemporary tablescape.

Antique glassware should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and dried carefully with a lint-free cloth. Never place them in a dishwasher.
