Fabulous Victorian Silver Aesthetic Movement Scent Bottle by Sampson Mordan, London 1881

Description

This is a rare and fabulous solid silver Aesthetic movement scent bottle made by the highly collectable Sampson Mordan and dated London 1881. Of cylindrical form, it is finely engraved with Aesthetic movement motifs; an ow, a stork, birds and butterflies amidst prunus flowers leafy bamboo shoots and a pond landscape. Fitted with its original glass cut glass stopper. Glass inner body and gilt interior. All parts of the scent bottle hallmarked.

SM&Co for Sampson Mordan & Co.

London Assay mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "F" for 1881.

Dimensions:

Height: 5.5 cm / 2.1 inches.

Diameter of base: 2.5cm / 1 inch.

Condition:

Excellent.

No dings or dents.

Strong hinge

Good lid fit. Snaps shut.

Inner glass in perfect condition.

Glass stopper in perfect condiiton.
