FAQs

Victorian furniture encompasses styles produced during the reign of Queen Victoria, characteristically featuring substantial proportions, dark woods, and revivals of historical motifs such as Gothic and Rococo.

Cabinetmakers during the Victorian era frequently utilised dense hardwoods like mahogany, walnut, and oak, often employing decorative veneers such as burr walnut for enhanced visual grain patterns.

Authenticity is determined by examining construction techniques such as hand-cut dovetail joints, secondary woods used in drawer linings, traditional patina, and period-appropriate hardware.

Pairing antique wood pieces with modern lighting and minimalist decor creates a balanced, layered aesthetic that highlights the craftsmanship of the historical item.

Maintain walnut furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft cloth, and occasionally applying appropriate natural wax.
