Georgian Hop And Barley Engraved Tumbler

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The World is Made of Glass Ltd.

This is an engraved Georgian, glass tumbler dating from the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, c1800.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base commensurate with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.

The glass has a bucket-shaped bowl measuring 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with a single hop flower, so was presumably meant for holding ale, and the letters ''HTI'' to verso within a floral cartouche. The tumbler ends in a base that measures 5.7 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter. The glass is 10.3 cm (4.1 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.

English lead glass weighing in at 265 g. (~ 9 oz.).
