Wemyss Ware is a type of decorative pottery originally produced at the Robert Heron & Sons Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, starting in the late 19th century, known for its hand-painted fruit and floral designs.

Wemyss pieces were typically crafted from earthenware clay, coated with a white slip and clear glaze, and then hand-painted with underglaze colours before a final firing.

Authentic pieces often feature impressed factory marks, painted retailer signatures such as T. Goode & Co., and a characteristic tactile, slightly dimpled surface glaze known as pig skin.

Place the piece on a neutral surface such as a mantelpiece or side table where its hand-painted details can be appreciated, pairing it with minimal surroundings to highlight its craftsmanship.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid submerging in water or using harsh chemical cleaners, as antique glazes can be sensitive to moisture and abrasion.
