Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The Louis XV style, also known as Rococo, emerged in France during the mid-18th century, characterised by asymmetrically curved lines, natural motifs such as leaves and shells, and a rejection of the heavy symmetry of the preceding reign.

These pieces were traditionally crafted from solid hardwoods like walnut, chestnut, or oak, featuring hand-carved decorative elements, pegged mortise and tenon joinery, and often incorporated bevelled mirrored glass panels.

Authenticity is identified by inspecting the joinery for hand-cut joints, examining the type of wood and interior construction, checking for handmade iron or brass hardware, and observing natural signs of age and wear on the timber.

An antique armoire can serve as a focal point in a contemporary bedroom or living space, offering functional storage while adding historical contrast against minimalist walls and neutral decor schemes.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent timber drying, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the wood surface while avoiding harsh chemical cleaners.
