This Victorian English tazza from approximately 1860 is formed from cased yellow and clear glass with a polished finish. The round dish features a scalloped rim and a cut-to-clear pattern displaying floral motifs, supported by a faceted baluster stem and a star-cut circular foot. The transparent and amber-toned glass catches the light across the engraved surfaces, revealing clear detailing on both the interior bowl and the underneath of the base. Measuring 15.6 cm high and 19.3 cm wide, the piece sits comfortably on compact surfaces. It makes a decorative addition to a sideboard top or a display cabinet, serving as a container for small ornamental items or functioning as an eye-catching standalone object within a traditional interior space.

A tazza is a wide, shallow dish elevated on a stem and footed base, traditionally produced during the nineteenth century for serving fruit or sweetmeats, or for display as a table centrepiece.

Victorian cased or flashed glass was made by fusing a layer of coloured molten glass over clear lead crystal, after which wheel-cut or etched patterns were carved through the outer layer to expose the clear glass beneath.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-cut detailing, precise wheel-cut starburst bases or ground pontil marks, substantial lead crystal weight, and sharp definition where the coloured overlay meets the clear glass.

A glass tazza can be placed on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or dining table where natural light can pass through the coloured glass layer to accentuate the geometric and floral cutting.

Wash antique glass manually using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding dishwasher use, rapid temperature changes, and harsh chemical cleaners that could damage the surface or compromise the lead crystal.
