Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The World is Made of Glass Ltd.

This is a late Victorian engraved double series opaque twist stem schnapps or cordial glass dating from the late 19th century, and made by the Josphinenhütte glassworks in the Black Forest in Germany.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 100+ years of use.

The glass has an ovoid-shaped bowl measuring 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with a wild boar running among fir and deciduous trees and sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of eight white enamel ''cotton'' strands wound around a twist of the same number of white enamel ''cotton'' strands. The stem leads to a thick, conical foot which measures 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter. The glass is 14.7 cm (5.9 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.

It weighs in at 220 g. (~ 8 oz.).
