Lincoln Restorations has dated this Ebonised Glazed Display Cabinet to the Victorian era.
An incredibly rare and wonderfully ornate cabinet in amazing original condition.
A prime example of the period's love for exotic woods and intricate decoration, it presents a striking contrast between the deep black of the ebonised wood and the rich, figured Amboyna burr veneer on the door.

The entire piece is beautifully embellished with thin boxwood stringing, outlining the panels and the distinctive oval glass door. The carved filigree on the top cresting, capitals, and base is a standout feature, with its delicate scrollwork highlighted by gold relief, adding a touch of luxury.

For a piece of this age, it is in remarkable condition, with all its original features intact. The original, hand-floated glass in the door retains the subtle waves and imperfections that authenticate its age. The original lock and key are in perfect working order, a rare find.

The cabinet stands on its original polished brass castors with black porcelain wheels, which are still fully functional. Inside, the two shelves are also a point of interest, mirroring the exterior's elegance with their own carved embellishments and gold relief, and they are fully removable, allowing for versatile display options. This cabinet is a beautiful and complete representation of its era and would make a stunning addition to any collection of fine antiques.

We have sympathetically restored, carefully cleaned and waxed this cabinet, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen and the item is ready for its new home.
Condition and Provenance A an antique, this cabinet show signs of age and use. While in good condition, expect minor marks consistent with historical pieces. This cabinet is structurally sound with no signs of woodworm and no major damage that would detract from its beauty or functionality.
