18th Cent Mahogany Longcase Long Case Grandfather Clock

18th century
Description

A handsome 18th Cent Longcase clock by Jasper Taylor of Holborn ,London. He is listed as working there from 1729 to 1770.

The typical London style case is in well figured mahogany, it is a lovely colour and has retained its original finish. The hood has brass inlaid columns with brass capitals. To the top are two brass finials (not matching). The top section of the hood is detachable if you are a bit short on ceiling height.

The good quality 5 pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a smart brass dial with a silvered chapter ring, date window and subsidiary seconds dial. To the arch is the all important strike/silent selector. It is complete with a pair of brass cased weights.

It is now well over 200 years old has a few defects and whilst presentable as it is it could do with a bit of restoration. However as clocks of this type sell for several thousands of pounds when restored the condition is reflected in the price.

The movement could do with a clean some time in the future but is currently running well and keeping good time.

Free local delivery and set up (50mls), national and international delivery arranged at cost.
