Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mary Gregory glass refers to 19th-century decorated glassware typically characterised by white enamel figures painted onto coloured or clear blown glass vessels. Originally produced predominantly in Bohemia and later across Europe, these pieces frequently feature stylised children set against outdoor landscapes.

These ewers were mouth-blown from tinted glass, after which fine white paint containing ground glass and pigment was applied by hand. The object was subsequently fired in a kiln to fuse the enamel image permanently into the surface of the glass body.

Authentic period pieces generally feature fine detail in the enamel work, polished pontil marks on the base, and period-appropriate glass weight. The enamel decoration should feel slightly raised and be fired directly into the glass surface.

A decorative glass ewer can be styled on a dining room sideboard, open shelving, or a deep window sill where natural light accentuates the rich green tint. Grouping it alongside clear crystal or polished brass decorative objects creates a refined visual contrast.

Wash the piece gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild washing-up liquid, avoiding abrasive sponges or dishwashers. Ensure the painted enamel surface is not scrubbed vigorously, and dry thoroughly with a soft lint-free cloth.
